Maybe I will release my tools in two or three languages - is there a kind of "Best practice" for this job?
I don't have time to search at the moment, but there have been discussions about this in the past here on the forum. Someone even wrote a lisp library for runtime localization.

Hi, Peter, in the past I worked for a company who solved that using a database: each column for a different language.
Otherwise you have a try with msg-files for each language.
In the meanwhile there shouldn't be any caption which cannot be set at runtime...
