I had attempted a post previously to request tutorials be added to the site, something more advanced than the "hello world" tutorial in the help file.  The previous post seems to have mis-fired, so I'll give it another try; Is there a time frame besides "coming soon" when some tutorials will be added to the site? ???

Right now the emphasis is on completing OpenDCL 5 (including a completely new help file, which is coming soon).  After OpenDCL 5 is complete, you can expect the focus to shift to the samples, documentation, and tutorials.  That is, of course, if somebody volunteers to write some tutorials.

Hi Cadapult,
Yes you're right we do need better tutorials.
Unfortunately we've all been busy with other things recently.
Owen's new & improved Help file will definitely help make things less confusing.
I'll be teaching a class at this years AU.
It will cover your basic "Hello world" + some more intermediate to advanced topic's.
After the class I'll post the hand outs for any one to follow along with & I'm going to try to do a screen recording of my class to also be posted.
After all that, then I'll be able to start recording video tutorials for the site.

Hope this helps & sorry for the delay.

Hello,

there were many tutorials in the past how to start with the old ObjectDCL. I think Kerry wrote one (I'm just not sure) and me, too. But they're old and they have to be rebuilt.

I must say: I learned a lot while translating OpenDCL into German. And I added some more information to the events and properties from my 8 year experiences in using ObjectDCL and OpenDCL. But there are others who have much more experiences, knowledge and greater ideas than me. We should start to begin with a completely new tutorial. But I would wait until the last beta release.

I agree wholeheartedly Fred .. on both points.

... and I believe the majority of tutorials should be really simple in content .... each designed to cover the BASICS.

my work and travel commitments continue unabated, but I'll try to make time to participate.

In lue of anything more complete, have a look at the following:

(My time here is about over.  Along with some new partners I'm starting a new firm with some really big projects coming up.  I wish I could help with the tutorials but my time is already spoken for . . . thanks everyone . . . Owen especially.)

Barry, I forgot about the PM stuff - I'm not very computer savvy.  I sent you a PM.

As far as everything working out . . . I still can't believe it's happening.  We've been working HARD for 7 years to get to this point.  It's going to be a very exciting time.
